Communiqué

The office of the high commissioner for peace reports that, within the demobilization process and the commencement of reinsertion to civil life, the former Cacique Nutibara Block, whose first phase was scheduled between 25 November 2003 and 16 December of the same year, presents the following balance of activities performed in the National Center for Coexistence and Peace, of the Presidency of the Republic:

1.- As part of the training, the demobilized received 260 hours on sensitization subjects, including: self-esteem, values, abilities and skills for individual and group development, solidarity, team work, entrepreneurial vision and approach to civil life, having completed 100 per cent of the schedule.

2.- Employment: 848 employment offers, 698 of which correspond to the municipality of Medellín and 150 to private offers. To date, 600 persons have been selected for those jobs. The selection process will continue and the contracts will be signed in the next few days.

3.- Education: real options to validate grammar and high school for all interested parties. Up to present, 369 have registered for high school and 85 for grammar school. In higher education, 10 scholarships obtained for any discipline.

4.- Health: 627 medical consultations, 109 hospital remittances, and 3 surgeries were performed.

5.- Psychosocial assistance: Psychosocial assistance provided to 864 individuals.

6.- Documents:
- 736 identity cards issued
- 314 military service cards issued
- 548 police clearance certificates issued
